Join Our Team as a Locum Physician in Palliative Medicine Traverse City, MI


Are you a dedicated Palliative Medicine Physician seeking impactful work with flexible scheduling? Our reputable healthcare organization is offering an exciting opportunity for a locum physician to provide compassionate care across inpatient, outpatient, and home-based hospice settings in scenic Traverse City, Michigan. This role involves intermittent coverage on specific dates throughout the spring, including early March through late May, with a structured 24-hour shift schedule (7-on, 7-off) from Tuesday 8 AM to the following Tuesday 8 AM. You will oversee and support inpatient consults, outpatient clinics, and home Hospice services, ensuring seamless, patient-centered care in a dynamic environment. The average inpatient consult volume ranges from 12-18 patients per day, with a balanced team of physicians and advanced practice providers. You'll utilize Cerner EMR to efficiently manage patient information.


Required Skills:

  • Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution
  • Board certification or eligibility in Hospice and Palliative Medicine
  • Valid Michigan medical license or in the process of obtaining one
  • Proven experience in inpatient and outpatient palliative care
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently
  • Proficiency with Cerner EMR systems
Nice to Have Skills:
  • Experience with home-based Hospice care
  • Ability to manage urgent calls and page responses efficiently
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and another language
Preferred Education and Experience:
  • Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in palliative or hospice medicine
  • Prior locum or temporary staffing experience preferred
  • Familiarity with complex care coordination in a hospital or clinic setting
Other Requirements:
  • Certification in Hospice and Palliative Medicine (preferred)
  • Ability to work a 24-hour, 7-on, 7-off shift schedule
  • Willingness to travel to various clinical sites as needed
  • Valid licensure and malpractice coverage
