Overview The Department of Art + Design at Austin Peay State University is seeking applications for a Gallery Director to join our vibrant, student-centered department. The Gallery Director is responsible for the programming and day-to-day operations of The New Gallery operated by the Department. We host nationally and internationally recognized artists for exhibitions, lectures, workshops, class visits, and studio visits with students. We are seeking a director who will program exhibitions that inspire, connecting our students to their courses, and engaging them in critical thought and reflection. Responsibilities Program exhibitions for The New Gallery that inspire and connect to student coursework, engaging them in critical thought and reflection. Chair the departmental speakers committee, coordinating 6–8 visiting artists per academic year, and manage related hosting duties for exhibiting artists in the gallery. Manage the APSU Permanent Art Collection (3500+ pieces), ensuring accessibility for research, learning, and enrichment for campus and the surrounding community. About the Department and Institution Our department is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design and offers BFA and BA degrees with concentrations in Studio Art, Animation and Visual Effects, Graphic Design, Art History, and Art Education.
